Knowing About the
Special
Doctoral Staff Training Programme
- The goal
of the Scheme is to develop human capacity of Osun State University academic
staff to the level of the doctorate degree and ultimately ensure that in
not-too-distant future all academic staff of the University hold quality Ph.Ds
- The Scheme
is for Osun
State indigenes who
earned First Class and Second Class Upper first degrees from
recognised universities.
- Training
shall be offered in Nigerian universities and in top-rate universities
overseas.
- Preference
for overseas training shall be for courses in emerging fields.
- The Scheme
is in three categories- A (those on active doctoral programmes);
B; those with Masters degrees; and C those with First Degrees.
- Successful
applicants will be employed by the University on a non-tenure basis as
Staff Trainee Fellows until successful completion of the Ph.D when such
staff would be offered permanent appointment.
- While in
training, staff on the programme will receive (a) a percentage of their
salary as approved by Council, if not available to carry teaching
load in the University; and (b) full salary if available to carry at
least three-quarters of their teaching load (e.g. when writing up
thesis/dissertation).
